Emma is home from the hospital

Wow....what a traumatic morning:(  First, I would like to say that the staff and the care Emma received in the hospital was unbelievable! There were two dentists, four nurses, the anesthesiologist and his two assistants for one itty bitty princess.

The dentist did a root canal, she needed three crowns and he had to pull 9 teeth. God bless little Emma:) He said her permanent teeth are already on their way in and the roots had not even begun to dissolve. You should see the roots on these baby teeth! So, he took out 6 teeth on the top and 3 on the bottom, she already had three pulled on the bottom because of her two bottom permanent teeth. So when she smiles all you see are her two bottom teeth, just like a sweet baby.

When Dr. Polo was finished he came out to get us and I asked if I could come and he said, "Umm...no only your husband". Well, he must have know that I wouldn't have handled that well! Greg said when he got to her room they were waking her up and she was crying and kicking and hitting anyone that came near her, they made him leave the room so they could calm her down and get her IV out but they only spoke Spanish so our baby girl was terribly frightened. Greg stayed back there for awhile and then after about 30 minutes, he brought her out to me in the waiting room. I was really not expecting her to be like this, she was completely delirious, she couldn't hold her head up and had a wild look in her eyes. I looked over at Lottie and she and I shared the same feelings. I kept looking into her eyes and telling her that Mommy was here but she wasn't coherent and I couldn't reach her.  She sobbed and thrashed around in the car until we got to Walmart for her prescription. Greg and Lottie went inside and left us in the car. I was holding her in the backseat (I know....you can all give me a car seat lecture later!)  she all of the sudden became very quiet and she looked up at me and said, "I love you Mommy and I need to close my eyes now" and then she fell fast asleep.  We brought her home and I made us some lunch and then took something upstairs for her to drink. After she took a drink, she smiled at me and said, "Thanks Mommy for not leaving me".   Oh the tears began to flow! I hugged her big and told her that I would never ever leave her, she is stuck with me forever. Unfortunately, she is no stranger to trauma but I am oh so thankful that she does not remember all of this work that was done in her mouth.

Thank you all for your prayers, I know that God had His hand on her and we are thankful that we are home now.  She is resting now and Lottie is her private nurse, Daddy bought her a Barbie that is a doctor, and Mommy is camping out on her bed.  The tooth fairy will be putting 90 pesos under her pillow tonight while the princess is sleeping. We love you Emma Jane....you are our hero! May we all be as brave as you pretty princess:)

Emma,
I heard you had a lot of teeth pulled out. Did it hurt? Now you're going to have more big teeth than me! What are you going to buy with your tooth money? When I lost my teethe, I saved my money until I had enough to go on the train at the mall. I hope your mouth feels better and you have fun with your new barbie. Talk to you later and I hope to see you soon! Avalyn

Oh sweet Emma! I am so glad she is okay. I wish I had seen this earlier so I could have prayed but I know the Lord was right there with y'all the whole time. It sounds like as awful as it was, the whole experience built some trust too for emma. Will pray for her continued recovery.

Oh my. What a day. I'm happy it's over and pray Emma's recovery is very fast. We hope her teeth come in soon also. One would have to miss 9 teeth. Hang in there Kim. I know this was awful. We love you.
