Not really....I just like the name of that book:) We experienced an earthquake yesterday. I think the news debated on whether it was a 7.6 or 7.9...all we know is that it was pretty CrAzY! I was on the phone with my mom and Greg was at Telcel paying our cell phone bill in a small shopping center. o, I was talking to my mom and then the house started rocking back and forth....literally....back and forth. The blinds on the windows where smacking the walls and then my mom and I were disconnected. The girls were upstairs and they were screaming and crying but I kept falling because I couldn't keep my balance....okay....that is normally an issue for me anyway but seriously people it was difficult! I just held on to each wall beside the staircase and then grabbed the girls......grabbed the dog....and bolted out the front door....because that's what you are supposed to do in an earthquake right? Go outside....evacuate the building. My husband wasn't home so I was stepping up to the "hero" role!
Ummm...I just left one small detail out of my magnificent plan.....the gate keys. Yep...I'm responsible for the lives of my children and my dog and I left the gate keys in the house. So, we just prayed and stood outside and watched the houses rock back and forth until it stopped. Praise the Lord we didn't need to go all the way out into the street. The maid next door was outside also and she was terrified. Poor thing:(
Greg almost fell over at the phone store, he thought he was fainting and then realized it was an earthquake. Have you ever been in one before? They are so strange. We felt them all the time in Costa Rica....small ones...and most of the time we had to be sitting still to feel them. If you were walking around or riding in a car, we never felt one. But this was HUGE! So, he ran outside with all of the other people and drove home. He said there were people all in the streets and wrecks. I could hear lots of sirens from our house....I only noticed because we never hear sirens.
We are all fine. I did have some anxious thoughts before bedtime thinking things like, "Oh my goodness...what if this happens again with a big after shock while we are sleeping...will I wake up? What if? What if?" Then finally I decided it would be a much better idea.....to just pray:)
I haven't heard of any deaths caused by the earthquake. Praise the Lord! Please continue to pray for this city!!!!
P.S. Don't worry....we had a family meeting and we have a new plan if this ever happens again. I was a Girl Scout you know....I will be more prepared:) Love ya'll!!!!

I am SO thankful you are okay!! You were the first one I thought of when I saw the news on CNN.
How scary!!!! Oh my.... who would have been thinking of the keys? I think most would have done exactly what you did...run for the kids and run!!
Praying for the people of Mexico, especially those who may need assistance but can't be found.
Love you!
Oh, scary, Kim. When we lived in CA we experienced numerous earthquakes....I'll e-mail you, and tell you a super funny story about one.... :)
I am sooooo glad you are okay...and that you have a "plan" for the next one. (But hopefully you won't experience a next one.)
Love you,
Mer

When I first heard of the earthquake, my immediate thought was of you. Glad to know that all is well.
Love you!
Oh, I'm soooo glad that you are okay! I was in an earthquake in CA once. The swimming pool at the apartment complex I lived in, had very large waves in it! I was only 22, so I thought it was pretty fun!
I am so glad you are all okay. How scary for you all!!!! I am not sure I would have known or thought quickly about what to do (and I was a girl scout too).
I will pray that there are no more and that you all have peace.
So thankful you are all ok and I am once again amazed at God's grace when I think of the magnitude of this earth quake and how He kept everyone safe. Thank You Jesus!
